I have not received a polling card. What should I do?

If you have not received your polling card please call your council to check that you are registered, download the list of names and contact details of your council. If you are registered, even if you have not received your polling card (e.g. because it is lost), then you can go and vote at your polling station.

I don’t know which is my polling station. What should I do?

You should have been sent a polling card with these details. If not please call your council and ask to confirm that you are registered and where is your polling station.

How many candidates can I vote for?

You can only vote for 1 candidate – this means you can vote for a party or for an independent candidate

How do I vote for Jan?

You put a “X” in the box next to the name “Jan Jananayagam”. The “X” should be in a different column from the name. Jan is number 17 on the list of candidates. See the sample ballot paper.

How does the ballot paper look?

All the parties are listed first. There are fourteen parties. The five independent candidates are listed last. Jan Jananayagam will be listed as number 17 – please check the number and the name.

What is your campaign strategy in the Tamil community ?

We are relying on a “5 Friends campaign” strategy– every supporter must ask five non-tamil friends and also remind them on the day to go and vote. This is the core strategy – every thing else is additional to this.

Where can I get leaflets or posters ?

Leaflets can be obtained at the campaign office in Rayners lane (tel – 0208 866 5800), leaflets will also be available at Parliament Square (near the tent) and at local Tamil and some South Asian shops, temples and schools.

I want to help the campaign in my area – whom can I contact?

We need help with distributing leaflets and for people to be present outside polling stations on the day to help supporters.

There are 4 regions – London NW, London NE, London SW and London SE. Please call the area coordinators in your region, They are:
